1893-1900 a Wächtersbach Platter

Description

Circa 1893-1920 an early Arts and Crafts porcelain platter in a decorative metal frame - it appears to be painted brass - made by Wachtersback of Brochttal nr Wachtersbach in Germany.

The company, founded in 1832 by Prince Adolf of Ysenbury and Budingen carried the trademark Beehive from 1893 - 1911. In 2006 it became part of the Knit Porzellan business and closed in 2011.

The platter measures 44cm across at the widest part and is approximately 35.5cm in diameter and has three little bun feet.

It is in very good condition, and on the base the trademarks Geschutzt - Registered -Depose with the number 22 in a triangle can be seen clearly, with a Dec 1572 stamp.
