Culvertons has dated this Antique Shaker Rocking Chair to the 1890s.
" The simplicity of this rocking chair is so appealing, it's difficult not to sit and while away a good part of your day. Normally, we would follow the long-held tradition of re-rushing a shaker chair. However, this example has been upholstered many times over its lifespan, possibly, looking at the very old sacking (see image) we found underneath the previous fabric, from the day of its conception. So, we decided to follow suit, and re-upholster the seat in a simple, but inviting good-quality Bute fabric. This lovely chair is in good condition, so much so, the surface of the frame just required some gentle enriching - a further indication of the craftsmanship within the shaker movement.
