A 18th Century Style French Tapestry - Woodland Scene

1900 - 1920
Description

A good French tapestry in 18th century style depicting a woodland mountain scene, with lake, waterfall and an exotic bird (possibly a Stork?) in the foreground with large buildings and mountains in the background. It is a good study of fruit trees, leaves, flowers and a bird.

Signed to the lower edge (left of centre) with a shield containing indecipherable letters.

The back is well lined in grey fabric with steel hanging 'loops' to the upper edge to allow for curtain pole hanging.  High quality and in excellent condition.

Dimensions (landscape):  Width:  5ft 7 inches (170 cm) x Height: 4ft 3 inches (130 cm)

Dated:  Executed in the 18th century style, but possibly as recent as 1920-1930.
