Georgian Silver Swing-handled Sugar Basket by William Plummer, London 1789

Description

This elegant George III silver sugar basket is dated London 1789 and bears the marks of William Plummer. Of shaped rectangular form, the body decorated with bright-cut sunburst designs surrounding two vacant cartouches, the concave sides with similar designs. The sides with a reeded swing handle mirroring the shape of the bowl. The interior of the bowl gilt wash.

The rim with reeded decorations.

Raised on a shaped pedestal foot.

Hallmarks:

W.P for William Plummer.

Lion Passant.

London Assay Mark.

Date letter "O" for 1789.

Duty Mark.

Condition:

Very good.

The interior with minor surface wear commensurate with age.
