Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Chippendale style mahogany lamp table is a small, versatile piece of occasional furniture based on mid-eighteenth-century English designs. Typically characterized by slender square legs, fretwork aprons or corner brackets, and tray tops, these pieces were originally created as tea, urn, or candle stands before evolving into modern lamp tables.

These tables are traditionally crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak frame cores. Standard construction methods include hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, fretwork carving along the apron or brackets, and turned spindle cross-stretchers designed to reinforce the slender leg structure.

Authentic period and quality revival pieces feature hand-carved pierced details, genuine wood oxidation beneath the tabletop, and visible joint construction rather than modern glue or screws. Inspecting the underside reveals timber tool marks and natural age-related shrinkage along the wood grain.

Position the table beside a modern armchair or sofa to hold a contemporary brass reading light or ceramic vase. The dark timber patination and structured lines create a grounded contrast in minimalist or contemporary living spaces.

Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid timber warping or finish cracking. Clean delicate fretwork details using a dry soft brush, and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax annually to protect the original finish.
