Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late Victorian and Edwardian eras through the early interwar period, silversmiths frequently created novelty items decorated with motifs from popular pastimes such as tennis, golf, and motoring. These objects served as commemorative gifts, club trophies, or decorative personal accessories reflecting the owners leisure interests.

Antique silver frames typically consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver mounted onto a sturdy wooden or leatherette easel backing. The silver face is often decorated using techniques such as repousse, casting, or engraving, and held in place with small silver pins or folded edges.

Authentic British sterling silver features a standardized set of hallmarks stamped directly into the metal. These include the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an assay office symbol denoting location, a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, and a makers mark.

A silver photo frame functions well when integrated into a curated vignette on a mantlepiece, side table, or desk. Pairing polished silver with contrasting natural materials like dark wood, leather, or stone adds texture and sophisticated visual balance to modern room layouts.

Clean sterling silver using a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a gentle silver polish formulated to remove oxidisation without scratching. Avoid immersing frames with wooden or fabric backings in liquid, and display them away from direct sunlight and high humidity to minimise tarnish.
