Fabulous Pair Antique English Pierced Wine Coasters C.1890

Description

One of the most decorative pairs of wine coasters I have had for a long time, with their wonderful shape and scalloped rims.

They are beautifully pierced or reticulated and each have a shield shaped cartouche at the front, which could be engraved if desired.

Made from silverplate with turned wooden bases and dating to around1890 / 1900, late Victorian in era, they remain in excellent condition, with minor wear, including one tiny fracture to the pierced work right of the cartouche on one coaster, mentioned purely for accuracy. 5 1/2" diameter x 2 3/8" tall.
