Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cocktail shakers gained widespread popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, aligning with the rise of cocktail culture. During the Art Deco period, makers designed shakers with clean geometric lines, stepped lids, and streamlined silhouettes influenced by modern architecture and industrial design.

Most commercial Art Deco shakers were manufactured from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), sterling silver, or chrome-plated brass. Higher-end examples featured heavy silver plating over a solid nickel or copper base.

Authentic pieces usually bear stamped makers marks or registration numbers on the underside of the base. They display distinct Art Deco features such as concentric stepped caps, engine-turned detailing, and balanced proportions characteristic of early 20th-century metalwork.

Position the shaker on a silver tray alongside vintage glassware on a dining room sideboard or a modern bar cart. Pairing polished metal accessories with dark timber or marble surfaces creates an elegant focal point.

Wash silver-plated shakers by hand using mild soapy water and dry immediately with a soft cloth to avoid water spots. Use specialized non-abrasive silver polish periodically to remove oxidisation and maintain the lustre without wearing down the plating.
