“Ombrelles Dans La Champagne”
A symbolist painting of women descending a hillside carrying red parasols mimicking a display of amanita toadstools. Symbolism was a reaction in favour of spirituality, the imagination, and dreams.
Robert Niel, known as Robert Nyel, was a French artist and singer-songwriter.
Nyel was a student at the Académie de la Grande Chaumičre. He devoted himself to satirical drawing for Presse magazine and for Le Hérisson. He participated in the Salon des surindépendants in 1952, followed by the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts.
