Description

A quality example by the highly sought-after Sampson Mordan & Co. of London and signed to the front of the scale.

This one is rather unusual as the letter pan is engraved with the "Inland Letter Post" rates but I have never had one before also with a rate for "India & Colonies", the rates on this scale indicate it to have been made post 1897, so late Victorian in era.

The base is made from solid Oak which holds the five brass weights (the 2oz with a slightly different design - engraved circle around 2oz, mentioned purely for accuracy). Excellent condition measuring 8" x 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" tall.
