London Antique Longcase Clock by Perigal of London

Description

An impressive early London mahogany longcase clock.

The 8 day duration 5 pillar movement striking the hours on a bell with an arched brass dial with separate silvered brass chapter ring, matted centre, subsidiary seconds ring and strike/silent facility to the arch. The well proportioned mahogany case of deep colour with long trunk door and raised panelled base with double plinth, both with fine figured flame veneers. The hood with brass inlaid reeded angle pillars with brass Doric capitals. The pagoda top with sound fret and surmounted by three brass finials. Height: 8'6"

Note: Francis Perigal is listed as being Master of the clockmakers company in 1756.
