Description

Beautiful large late 19th century Chinese wedding box,c1890. The box is heavy at 3.4kg ,and is a pleasing 8 sided shape with extensive decoration. The red lacquer base colour acts as a great contrast to the gold decoration which is carved in relief on the lid and features dragons and phoenix/mythical birds. Overall condition is very good, there is a hairline crack on the lid but this is very minor and hardly noticeable. Overall this is a highly decorative and functional antique which would display well in a modern or traditional setting.
