Lincoln Restorations has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The sideboard is signed and dated 1869 as shown in the pictures, which was uncovered in its restoration which the item has just undergone. This moderately sized sideboard features a 1 plank solid Walnut top which is embellished with its original ornate pinstriped and painted detailings, the edge of the top has wonderful blind tooled effect carvings all around. We believe the sideboard would have had a mirrored back at some stage of its life, in place of this now is a small raised up-stand which has been made in the past.

The sideboard features a pair of smoothly operating dovetailed drawers with gilt gold beeded gesso mouldings to the top of the drawers and its original typical Aesthetic Movement style solid brass polished dropper handles. Going down the sideboard features a pair of 4 fielded panel doors with beautiful shaped moulded edges which are painted with a Mahogany Hue slightly contrasting the ebonised finish. The doors both feature gilt (gold leaf) lines with a green painted band to the centre which frames the door, complete with a broad gold leaf band to the bottoms of both doors. The cupboard doors both feature their original ornate solid polished brass dropper handles in the Aesthetic Movement style. The cupboard is fully lockable via its internal catch on the left door and original brass lock and key on the right and inside the cupboard is 1 removable shelf. Flanking the doors are 3 pillars with carved top corbels which are gilt. Under the corbels are painted grey and black herringbone style embellishments with gilt lines either side which finished to a gilt crown and a simple moulded plinth between. The sides of the carcass are in 3 panels with Mahogany coloured moulded edges and gold embellishments

This item is structurally solid, in good order with no loose joints and has been restored and checked over thoroughly to ensure it is ready to be placed in its new home.
In our thorough research and combined experience of over 50 years in the restoration of antique furniture, we have not ever found or seen a sideboard or cabinet quite like this one and we believe this may have been a commission or bespoke piece.

Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but does have some signs of wear and tear, however, we feel that these points are which adds to part of its charm and character with it being antique.

Also note, sale is for the sideboard only but other items pictured may be available separately.
