1960s Nero Lemania Pocket Watch and Chronograph, British Railways

1960s Nero Lemania pocket watch and chronograph, British Railways (NE).

The watch has a stem-winding movement, the Lemania calibre 19NT, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Lemania name, and it has the logo for Lemania Lugrin SA of L’Orient, Switzerland, registered in 1950.

This piece is a little more unusual being both a chronograph and a pocket watch, there are many similar stop watches around but very few with this combination.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is chromium plated. It has general surface marking to the back.

The back of the watch has the letters BR (NE) 581 for British Railways Northern Eastern Region. This was a region of British Railways from 1948, covering everything east of the Pennines from the Humber to the Scottish border. The operating area could be identified by the orange signs and colour schemes that adorned its stations and other railway buildings. It was merged with the Eastern Region in 1967.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The dial is in super condition with original blued steel hands.

The chronograph feature is operated by pressing the button on top of the winding stem… once to start, once to stop and once to re-set to zero.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
