An Edwardian silver locket and silver chain link chain with hallmarks on the back of the locket for Birmingham 1909. The makers mark on the back of the locket is present but a bit rubbed (due to wear). There is a lion passant hallmark on the pendant loop. The front of the locket is decorated in detail with a design of diamonds within a contrasting semicircle band of grainy silver with tiny fleur de lays edging, hinting at the use of the item as a necklace. The loop and chain are substantial, making a striking look. The locket opens to a pink lined interior, and photo, and it closes with a nice click.
The chain length is 16.5 inches, 42cm.
