Unusual Old Sheffield Plated Warming Dish C1810

19th century
Description

An unusual boat shaped Old Sheffield Plated warming dish. Bearing no makers marks but dating to c1800-1820. The hinged lid opens to reveal a wonderfully clean interior and features lion mask ring handles. To the reverse is a lift up flap opening into an internal hot water reservoir.

The condition is good overall with no dents or splits. There is slight copper bleed to the edge decoration and one small patch to the lid. The base shows signs of being tinned originally, but most of this has worn away.

Weight approx 795g.

Height approx 11cm

Total length approx 34cm.

Base measures approx 27cm x 12.5cm.
