Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The quality is outstanding, this is as fine a writing table of the period as you could find.
There is crisp carving at the top and bottom of the finely turned legs, which sit on original brass casters. The back of the desk is nicely finished, so this can be used as a free standing item.
You can clearly see the makers name stamped on the drawer.
The condition is excellent for its age, we have just had this re-polished. the leather top has also been replaced with a hand coloured and tooled faded black leather.
