Description

Flambé bowl manufactured by Royal Doulton for Gorham, the renowned American silversmith who applied the silver embossed rim of stylised flowers in relief. This bowl is stamped and printed Sterling silver with the Gorham mark. The bowl has some signs of age to the surface, but no cracks, chips or repairs.

Royal Doulton first introduced the Flambé glaze in 1904 at the St Louis Exhibition and it was an immediate success. Created by the introduction of copper oxide the resulting fiery red finish soon became known as Flambé.
