C17th English Oak Wainscott Armchair (jacobean / Carolean / Restoration)

An English Wainscott armchair, constructed in solid oak, dating from the 2nd half of the C17th, Carolean / Jacobean period. Featuring a carved top rail, over double panelled back. Solid seat, open arms, raised on square legs supported by side stretchers. Very good colour, polish and patina throughout.
 
A charming chair, with several flaws, but well presented and in good condition, ready for use.

This chair measures approximately 114.5 cm (45'') tall, 58.5 cm (23'') wide, and 48.5 cm (19'') deep. The seat height is approximately 45.5 cm (18'').

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This chair is in a good condition commensurate with its age. Some marks and blemishes. The legs have been retipped. Later holes through all the seat rails and the bottom back rail. An iron bar fitted behind the front seat rail. A cross carved into the top rail, now well polished in. Good colour, polish and patina. Very serviceable and ready for use...
