Antique Silver Record Pocket Watch & Chain

Antique silver pocket watch by Record, 1919.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement, identified as by Record, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case has engine turned detail to the back of the watch and a central vacant cartouche. The front of the case is in good condition, some unevenness to the back but not too detrimental.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The double sunk dial has blued steel hands and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single chain, 28cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is a little earlier than the watch, hallmarked for 1900 and with silver lion marks on each of the links. The chain measures 39g.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
