Description

Beautiful French marquetry front commode c.1930. Inch-thick marble top with a moulded edge and shallow breakfront shape, over three long oak lined drawers with the fronts shaped to match. Superb decorative detail with marquetry inlays forming a pattern of fruit, cloth swags and musical instruments in contrasting timbers against a pale ground within crossbanded borders. Further inlaid frieze around the top and Classical vases at the sides. Large gilded brass mounts at the shoulders and the centre of the apron. Raised on shaped legs with additional mounts to the front feet. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the shallower top drawer.
