Art Deco Egyptian Revival Bronze Bookends By Charles / Sphinx

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: School House Antiques

A pair of Art Deco silvered bronze sphinx bookends signed Charles to the side of the bookend, an artist working for Le Verrier foundry during the Art Deco period. Both of bookends are cast as a sphinx / pharaoh heads with exceptionally detailed features. The silvered finish and portoro marble base create a striking contrast. They clearly reflect the ongoing popularity of Egyptian Revival in the decorative arts movement.

Both bookends are in very good, vintage condition with minor signs of age as to be expected.
