Mahogany Antique Bracket Clock by James Wilson - London

19th century
Description

An excellent late 18th century mahogany table/bracket clock.

The 8 day duration five pillar two train fusee movement with verge escapement and striking and repeating the hour on a bell. The backplate engraved with scrolls, flowers, foliage and a central engraving of the makers initials. The silvered brass dial engraved with the makers name and with Roman hours, Arabic minutes, circular date dial above VI, blued steel hands and with strike/silent facility to the arch. The small mahogany broken arch top case with brass carrying handle, fish scale sound frets to the sides and standing on four brass ogee feet. Height: 15"

Note: James Wilson is listed as working in Threadneedle Street between 1802-1809 and was a Member of the Clockmakers Company.
