Fine Regency Coalport Marquis of Anglesey Tea Cup & Saucer C.1815

Description

A beautiful London shape tea cup and saucer by Coalport finely decorated in the Marquis Of Anglesey pattern made famous at Swansea. A continuous frieze of well painted garden flowers, of convulvulous, roses, auriculas. peonies and anemones set into a solid gilt ground. Gilt borders and a chain link pattern running around the foot of the cup and centre of the saucer and a feathered gilt pattern running inside the cup rim. Further floral specimens painted in the centre of both pieces. Unmarked, c.1815.

The cup measures 8.8cm (3 7/16") rim to rim and 5.5cm (2 3/16") high to the rim. The saucer measures 13.6cm (5 3/8") wide and 3cm (1 1/8") high.

In very good condition with no damage, repairs or restoration. Very minor handling wear in the main, just slightly to the rims in places, but some wear to the gilding in the centre of saucer.
