F Baetens London Regency Small Fusee Mantel Clock

Description

A fine quality small English Regency fusee mantel clock by Baetens of London. Gilt ormolu swag mounts to the case front and standing on bun feet. A gilt cast dial surround with Roman numerals to the enamel dial with beautifully pierced gilt hands. A bronze patinated case with a gentleman flanked to the side in military dress. An 8-day duration fusee timepiece mechanism Signed to the mechanism backplate 'F Baetens 23 Gerard St Soho London' and also to the mechanism inner plate. Circa 1815.

F Baetens of London worked from 1810 and another family member J Baetens from 1830. A clock by is noted in the Royal Collection.
