Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique porcelain ewer vase is a decorative vessel inspired by classical pitcher shapes, featuring a spouted rim, narrow neck, single handle, and pedestal foot. Popularised in European decorative arts during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these pieces were designed as ornamental display ceramics rather than functional pourers.

Ewers from this period were crafted from hard-paste or soft-paste porcelain, fired at high temperatures to produce a durable ceramic body. They were subsequently finished with hand-applied overglaze enamel paints and liquid gold gilding or leaf.

Authentic pieces display hand-painted enamel details with visible brushstroke variations, natural wear to the gilding along high-contact points, and age-consistent wear on unglazed foot rims. Maker stamps, painter marks, or impressed numeric codes are often present on the underside of the base.

A symmetrical arrangement on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard allows a pair of ewers to create visual balance. They contrast effectively against modern muted backdrops, polished timber, or marble surfaces.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft microfiber cloth or fine feather duster. Avoid abrasive sponges, chemical cleaners, and immersion in water, as moisture and friction can deteriorate delicate gold gilding and overglaze paint layers.
