Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late nineteenth century, French foundry artisans produced classical allegorical figures representing personified virtues, emotions, or seasons. These cast figures were popularized during the Belle Epoque era as decorative accents for homes, reflecting classical influence and romantic artistic movements.

Statues from this period were frequently cast in spelter (a zinc alloy) or bronze, treated with bronzed or patinated finishes to simulate solid bronze, and subsequently mounted onto turned hardwood or marble bases.

Authentic pieces feature sharp casting detail in drapes and facial expressions, original applied patination, integrated foundry or title nameplates, and turned timber or stone plinths exhibiting genuine age-related wear.

A pair of statues can be positioned symmetrically flanking a central clock on a mantelpiece, styled atop a console table in an entryway, or arranged within a framed wall alcove or bookshelf display.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a clean bristle brush. Avoid water, harsh chemical detergents, and abrasive polishes, as these will strip the delicate patinated finish and underlying surface treatment.
