George V Silver Mounted Match Striker, London 1910

1900 - 1920
Description

This is an elegant medium-sized silver mounted match striker. The clear glass spherical body applied with fine glass piping, giving it the desired ribbed effect. The top with a wide silver rim. Often these were used on desks and doubled up as paperweights. Comes with the original matches, which is very rare, they are often long gone!

Hallmarks:

Maker's marks erased.

Date letter "p" for 1910.

London Assay Mark

Lion Passant.

Condition:

Glass in good condition, a few minor flea bites.

Silver rim with a few very minor dings, commensurate with age.

Marks partially erased, which is very often the case with this type of objects.

Dimensions:

Height: 6cm / 2.4 inches.

Diameter: 7.5cm / 3 inches.
