Antique 1918 Silver Pocket Watch and Chain

Antique silver pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has slight unevenness.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1918 with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The front of the case is in good condition, the hinged case back has some unevenness.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are a couple of hairline cracks, one between 4 and 5 and the other between 10 and 11.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 29cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
