Victorian 9k Gold 60 Inch Longuard Chain, Circa 1890

Description

An impressive antique Victorian longuard chain. The piece is both a much longer and much heavier longuard than you’d normally find. Unusually, there is no clasp on this piece; it’s an unbroken circle of link which can’t be opened.

Each link on the belcher style chain is slightly faceted, allowing light to reflect; an incredible craftsmanship that simply can’t be found in more modern pieces. By virtue of its length, this can be worn or a two or three strand necklace.

There are no hallmarks but both the chain and the clip test as 9k gold.

Weight: 52.8 grams.

Length: 60 inches, or 152.4cm.

Circa: 1890.
