A Regency period pocket telescope made by Isaac Bradford of London. In good useable condition and displays beautifully on the later made mahogany stand. It is engraved on the eypiece tube by the maker ''Isaac bradford &Co 136 Minories London. He was registered here (near Tower Bridge) betwen 1808 & 1822. Later telescopes were engraved Isaac Bradford & Son when George his son joined him and eventually took over the business. The tubes pull out smoothly and it is easy to focus being powerful for its size. The last two photos demonstrate this (a tree some 500m distant) difficult to capture and much clearer in reality. The eyepiece has the usual closing shutter.There are some minor dents and blemishes from use and the objective lens has some minor pitting but this has no affect on the viewed image. The mahogany main tube is of good colour and patina with no splits.A rare attractive piece by a good maker.Fully extended it measures 53.5 cmClosed it measures 18.5 cmDiam...
