A George III Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase - C.1780

A stunning George III mahogany breakfront bookcase, of lovely unmolested colour, having a plain cornice above astragal glazed Strawberry Hill Gothic style doors enclosing adjustable shelves that slide into notches, above a pair of panels doors opening to reveal four sliding shelves, flanked by a pair of panel doors each opening to reveal four graduated drawers with gilt brass swan neck handles, on a plinth base.
 
This bookcase appears to have its original Georgian glass.
 
Many components with Georgian cloth labels stencilled Mrs H.B. QUICK.
 
Provenance:
 
The Quick family of Tiverton, Devon and thence by descent through the family. James Quick of Tiverton married Harriet Acland in 1804, who became Mrs H. B. Quick.
 
Condition:
 
A few small veneer repairs. Glass undamaged and seemingly all original. slight warping to a couple of the panels in the doors. Small imperfections, losses, marks and dents commensurate with hundreds of years of use. Overall, in lovely cherished conditi...
