Georgian Spode Porcelain Tea Cups 1814 Banana Tree Pattern.

Here is a set of 2 Georgian period Spode London shape tea cups and saucers. The decorative pattern 2214 includes a handleless teabowl, rather than a cup with a handle. Early 19th-century Spode cups nearly always had handles. Spode handleless cups are occasionally found with printed decoration in blue, but hardly ever with hand-painted decoration, as here. In a Spode catalog of around 1820, this teabowl shape is not shown as a current option, so no teabowls were likely produced after that date—unless this set was part of a custom order. In any event, Spode handleless cups are extremely rare.

The Banana Tree pattern was introduced around 1814
