Description

A lightly gilded solid silver pendant formed of a pavé-set oval top, a central flower and a tiny dangling drop, all studded with vivid turquoise cabochons and dating from the 19th century. We believe the pendant is a historic conversion, possibly from an earring. It would make a perfect "something blue" for a wedding!

Turquoise, in the language of Victorian sentimental jewellery, always represents the forget-me-not flower symbolising true love and loyalty. A romantic symbol used as a constant and powerful reminder of a love lost or perhaps of a sweetheart sent off to fight in the Crimean war.

In very good antique condition; there is a blemish on the reverse of the top section.

Size: Approximately 4 x 1.2cm.
