We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese carved hardwood furniture gained prominence during the Ming and Qing dynasties, produced both for domestic elite households and for export to European markets in the 19th century. These tables were traditionally designed as stands to display decorative art, scholar objects, or botanical specimens.

Craftsmen predominantly utilized dense native hardwoods such as Hongmu, Zitan, or Rosewood, valued for their durability and natural luster. Tops were frequently inlaid with polished marble or slate panels to provide a heat-resistant and visually contrasting surface.

Authentic pieces feature traditional joinery, such as blind mortise-and-tenon joints, without modern nails or glue. Look for deep hand-carved relief work along the aprons, natural age-related patina on the timber underside, and floating panel marble mounts that allow for natural timber movement.

Place the table as an accent piece in an entryway or living area to introduce textural contrast against neutral walls. It serves effectively as a plant stand, a display surface for sculptural ceramics, or an end table beside contemporary upholstered seating.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax paste annually to nourish the timber. Clean the stone insert using a pH-neutral cleaner specific to marble, avoiding harsh acids or abrasive polishes that could etch the surface.
