Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The mirror has foxed naturally and evenly over the last 270 years but still gives a reasonable reflection.

The frame completely original also with a carved gilded (in pure gold) slip and a gilded foliate cartouche in a fretwork carved circular window. The outer frame well shaped with carved scrolls and the plate is surrounded with a well made ogee cushion border.

It is as though the mirror has sat on the same wall for centuries as it is untouched and carries no damage or repairs or later re-gilding.
A rare and very beautiful mid 18th century mirror.

22.5 inches wide, 33.5 inches high and 2 inches deep.
