Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Heriz carpets originate from the Heris region in northwestern Iran, near Mount Sabalan. Woven predominantly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these carpets are celebrated for their bold geometric interpretations of classic Persian floral motifs, created by weavers using local traditions rather than strict drawn cartoons.

Traditional Heriz rugs are hand-knotted using durable wool pile constructed over a cotton warp and weft foundation. The local wool is known for high lanolin content due to the water in the region, producing resilient yarns coloured with vegetable dyes such as madder and indigo.

Authentic Heriz carpets feature a distinguished geometric central medallion, stepped corner spandrels, and angular rectilinear leaf patterns rather than fluid curves. They showcase a heavy wool construction, symmetrical knots, and subtle colour variations known as abrash resulting from natural dye batches.

An antique Heriz carpet functions as a visual anchor in a room, complementing neutral modern upholstery or traditional wooden furnishings. Placing the rug centrally beneath a seating area or dining setup balances geometric architectural lines with rich warmth and texture.

Vacuum the carpet regularly without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling fibres, and rotate it annually to ensure balanced wear and sun exposure. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean, dry cloth, and thorough cleaning should be performed exclusively by specialist antique textile restorers.
