Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
To the top is a raised gallery with shaped and carved sides and a carved pediment. It stands on square tapered legs united by a central cross-stretcher. A well-proportioned piece, it is a good size, offering lots of work space but not too large. With good colour and patina, could be used as a desk or hall table.
