Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
To the back is a brass holder and brass shovel with a turned wooden handle. The lid with brass knob, lifts up to reveal storage space for coal, logs, kindling etc. A quality coal scuttle with good colour and patina to the wood.
