Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
It is of superb quality, with all the fine original features, including the ebonised trimming. The burr walnut veneers are stunning and this has a gorgeous colour. There is profuse satin wood inlay all around the drawers and top edges.
The top sections have beautiful pierced galleries and the handles are also made from intricately crafted gilt bronze. This has a mirrored upper door with a cabinet inside, six small upper drawers and one large drawer under the desk. The writing surface also has an inset embossed leather top.

This is a rare and impressive piece, we have just had it French polished, the condition is excellent for its age. We have had the inset leather replaced, and this comes with a locking key for the upper cabinet.
