Antique silver Buren pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, signed Buren, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1918 together with a mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in lovely condition.

The glass lens has minor marking and a small chip to the bevelled edge, none of which are overly noticeable to the naked eye.

The dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a silver double albert, a little earlier in date than the watch as it is hallmarked for 1911, with maker’s marks for Booth & Biggs on the T-bar and clasps. Each of the links has the lion silver mark. The chain weighs 27g, and each length of chain measures 23cm long including the T-bar and clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
