An Unusual Early Tunbridge Ware Sewing Pannier - Decorated With Hot Poker Work

An unusual early Tunbridge Ware sewing pannier, decorated with hot poker work to make it look like tortoiseshell. A metal point would be heated up and would have been used to burn the wood slightly to decorate it. The lid also has a central pannel with decorated flowers and leaves. It has a swing handle, replaced at sometime. Inside it is lined with the original pink paper and it is divided into sections. There are some sewing items inside including scissors, needles cotton etc

It measures 12.5cm w x 10cm d x 5cm h excluding the handle.
