Hyalite glass is an opaque black or dark-coloured glass formulated to resemble jet or ebony. Originating in the nineteenth century and widely popularised during the Art Deco era, it was frequently decorated with gold leaf, enamel gilding, or frosted acid etching to highlight crisp geometric profiles.
