Antique Mahogany Double Fusee Mantel Clock Pull Repeat by Joseph Barling

19th century
Description

Antique Mahogany Double Fusee Mantel Clock Pull Repeat By Joseph Barling.

This lovely antique mantel / bracket clock has a mahogany case with a fantastic rich colour and grain. The top of the case is shaped with a lovely shaped finial sat upon a ribbed, then square section. the top edge of the case is then shaped, with a shaped front. The body of the case then has a wonderful curved shape with further detailing to the left and right edge including shaped disks to the bottom left and right. The base of the case then has a stepped out moulding followed by four nicely shaped feet.

the dial is then silvered and set out in engraved Roman numerals with a thin ring of dashes to the outside marking the minutes. The centre of the dial is then engraved by the maker "Joseph Baring Maidstone". The dial is then finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a domed, protective glass set into a brass bezel.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back and is a double fusee example of the upmost quality. It ticks away as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum, travel nut, and winding key. The clock also chimes the number of hours on the hour as well as having a pull repeat. The movement is then, like the dial, engraved by the maker "Joseph Barling Maidstone" showing that the clock is totally original.

It measures approximately:

19” / 48cm Tall.

13.25” / 33.5cm Wide.

7” / 17.75cm Deep.
