A beautiful George I period side chair with gently curving splat, scrolled ears to the crest and cabriole front legs with carved C scrolls at the knees and set on large puddled pad feet.

In excellent condition and having always been well cared for.

Very comfortable, heavy and sturdy. The drop in seat with a handmade wool tapestry cover that is mid-19th Century and remains in excellent condition with colours bright and without holes, wear or other issues. The lovely shaped apron to front and sides is well proportioned and the single stretcher between back legs is indicative of the transition in this period from chairs with uniting stretchers to those where all four feet are open.

A beautiful early 18th century chair in rarely seen red walnut and very comfortable and robust.
