Chinese Gilt Bronze Guanyin, 17th C. Ming Dynasty.

Description

Chinese gilt bronze figure of Guanyin, 17th Century, Ming Dynasty. The goddess seated upon rocks, wearing loosely fitting robes. Her right hand resting upon her knee, whilst she holds a peach in her left hand.

She wears a necklace of Buddhistic beads, suspended from a Ruyi head, and disc form ear rings. Having a high crown, inset with panels of a seated Buddha. Her hair tied in a top knot.

The figure retains a substantial amount of its original gilding.

Height: 21.5 cm, 8 1/2”.

Width: 10 cm, 4”.

Depth: 8 cm, 3 1/8”.

Condition: Age related wear to the gilding. Excellent condition. No repair.
