Elmgarden has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The Post Box is made in Solid Mahogany, which would guarantee a very strong and secure receptacle, the doors and sides are panelled, the Box has rounded corners and stands on a deep plinth base
Each of the doors has posting slit, and a brass label holder, beneath this there is a holder for the enamel labels with posting times which can be changed from the inside of the door.
Inside, the cupboards have sloping floors with a letter shute and there are metal spikes, to prevent any theft when the box is locked and we have the key
This is a very rare piece and would be a superb addition to any Country House or Hotel, it comes in 2 for ease of transportation
The Post Box is in very good sound used condition, It is 65” tall, 36” wide and 20” deep
