In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
It stands on small ogee bracket feet and has an ornate brass escutcheon plate. The colour and patina of the oak is superb and even the back is made from quarter-sawn timber.
It is in good condition for its age. The hinges are in good order and the interior is clean and tidy with a boarded floor. There are signs of use and age, some general knocks and minor marks but nothing detrimental. The top has been strengthened from below at some point and the whole piece is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
