Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An aneroid barometer measures atmospheric pressure without liquid using a sealed metallic capsule called an aneroid cell. During the late nineteenth century, woodcarvers in central and western Europe produced cases decorated with intricate Rococo Revival motifs, floral elements, and rocaille scrollwork.

These instruments typically feature solid walnut or oak cases carved with relief decoration. The mechanical components consist of a brass aneroid capsule, a glass-covered dial with printed weather markings, and an integrated spirit thermometer tube mounted on an enamelled or porcelain scale.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved timber detailing showing subtle variations and chisel marks rather than modern uniform moulding. Dials often feature historical typography, metal bezel surrounds, and original maker or retailer inscriptions from established instrument suppliers.

Position the barometer on a narrow wall, in an entryway, or above a console table to serve as a focused wall feature. The dark wood tones contrast effectively against neutral wall treatments or rich heritage paint shades in traditional and contemporary interiors.

Position the item away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement and cracking. Dust the carved scrollwork gently using a soft, dry brush and clean the dial glass with a lint-free cloth.
