In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It opens to reveal three writing pads as well as a pen tray and a glass inkwell. There is also an additional secret drawer below the tray which is revealed when you lift the wood alongside. The lining of the lid folds down to provide a useful storage section behind and this top part of the box folds down flat to provide the writing surface. The bottom part of the box folds upwards to reveal a row of letter or document holders and a further large storage section below.

It is excellent quality with a Bramah lock and a maker's stamp for "Parkins & Gotto 24 & 25 Oxford Street".
The box is in very good condition for its age. The leather is in good order with a little bit of wear along the edges and corners but no major damages or marks and a lovely patina. Inside, it is generally clean and tidy with a few small marks and signs of use but nothing detrimental. Overall the box displays very well and is certainly a nice usable item. We do not have a key for the box.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
